Universidade Federal Rural do Rio de Janeiro
The Master's of Science in Sustainable Development Practice at Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRRJ) is a program of 24 consecutive months aimed at the integration between the different agents working for the practice of sustainable development. The Program aims to evaluate and work on concrete issues related to economic, social and environmental local communities in urban and rural areas, especially those related to poverty reduction and social inequalities in Brazil and Africa.
Sustainable Development Practices with emphasis in the Atlantic Rainforest, the Amazon Region and Africa
MDP students participate in “hands-on” field-training sessions of up to three months’ duration. Begun typically after completion of the first academic year, they constitute a structured, “clinical” training program, giving students the opportunity to gain first-hand experience of integrated development approaches in a real-world context. There are three training fields planned in the course: a region of the Atlantic Forest, the Amazon region and a third in Mozambique.
In Brazil, the graduate programs offered by public universities are free of charge , funded by the Brazilian Government. But there is a fee of about US$ 25 for people interested in applying to the program.
Every year, in mid-April, the UFRRJ will publish in the MDP webpage its Announcement of Selection containing all necessary information, documents and also the schedule and milestones of the selection process.
