TCD and UCD, Dublin

The Masters in Development Practice (MDP) is a two-year program offered jointly by Trinity College Dublin (TCD) and University College Dublin (UCD). Most course modules are categorized according to each of the Global MDP Program's four pillars—health, natural, social, and management sciences. Some are categorized as cross-disciplinary, although the program as a whole emphasizes the interconnectedness between development issues in these four fields. Course offerings include Global Health, Gender and Development, and Climate Justice, Human Rights and Development. The program includes two summers of field training, in Rwanda and Geneva.

In 2009, TCD (established 1592) and UCD (established 1880), two institutions with similar profiles though different histories, announced Innovation Alliance, an initiative for greater collaboration between them. Each institution has an enrollment slightly higher than 15,000, with about 3,500 graduate students at UCD and about 5,000 at TCD.
